Iceland winter elopement in a nutshell
Planning an elopement in Iceland might sound scary. If you are going to get married in Iceland during the winter, it sounds even worse. In fact, it’s not as bad as it seems, if you know how to prepare yourself. Here are some Iceland winter elopement tips and tricks.
Iceland winter elopement: wool, wool and more wool
Wool is amazing fabric, because keeps you warm and dry at the same time. You can bring your favourite woll items from home, or you can buy them locally. Icelandic wool is one of the products Icelanders are truly proud of. Iceland winter elopement can’t be done properly without wool sweather, hat, gloves and socks. As I mentioned on my ultimate packing guide to Iceland, layers are everything. The wool will not only give you more comfort during the photoshoot and on our way to the shooting location. It will also be a great addition to the photos. We can either incorporate them into the whole shoot or leave it for backstage cheesy shots.
Jacket and boots
It’s good to have some warm, waterproof boots. They can be hiking boots if you want, but you can also have something more wedding-looking. Keep in mind to choose the waterproof materials. Or plan to pack them well in your backpack – you can always chage the boots to nice shoes just for photos. The choice is totally yours.
Jacket will keep you warm in between the shots. Sometimes you will look even more badass in your jacket put over the wedding dress than without it. Better safe than sorry, we can always make few versions of the photo! If you don’t want to use jacket, you can choose a shawl or a blanket.
Hot drink and sweet snack
It’s nice to have something hot to drink in between your Iceland winter elopement photoshoot. Together with a favourite sweet snack will give you a boost of energy and warm you up at the same time.
Pocket hand warmer
You know, the one that becomes hot when you break it. If you bring more than one, you can also put them inside your shoes or socks and warm your feet at the same time as hands. Sounds like nothing but believe me, you will feel so much better! In fact, you might get a shot of new energy for some more photos! 🙂
